6. Blaine Wedding

The wedding of Tom Blaine & Gwen Franklin - about 1920, Ramsbury.

They subsequently ran the grocer's shop called Hill's Stores in High St (near the square). They lived there too, & had a beautiful garden going right down to the river.

Front row, 3rd from right in light suit, is the bride's brother Edward Franklin, immediately behind him in the light hat is Kate Pickett. The bridesmaid 4th from L in front row is bridegroom's sister Louise Franklin - who was a milliner with Rose Pickett.

Gina Hobbs writes in 2003:

"Louise Franklin, mentioned in Diane's picture gallery is actually my grandmother, Amy Louisa Zillah Franklin, known as Louie.
She worked for Mrs or Miss Pickett. In fact my Gran, is still alive at the grand old age of 93. You may know her as Mrs Talmage. She is probably one of the oldest Ramsburians still around!"
