Old News at Ramsbury.com 2002

2 December 2002 - The latest diary and calendar are now available - also the November Parish Council meeting minutes.

If you signed up to the free NetMind service to alert you by e-mail of changes to this News page, you will perhaps have become aware of a distinct lack of communication therefrom. It seems that the company providing the service has been taken over and the service withdrawn - without telling us of course,

So, I am trying out another, similar service - see panel on the left.
Do let us know if you have problems with this.

31 October 2002 - The Parish Council minutes are here now.

27 October 2002 - A very busy month in prospect for Ramsburians - just as all those Christmas preparations were looming! See the diary and calendar for all the details.

If you would like to get involved in a local group but cannot attend the next meeting, see our contacts page for whom to contact, telephone nos. etc.

27 September 2002 - Lots to read in the diary this month, with the monthly calendar offering things to do every Saturday during October.

The photographs of village events have not been updated - because I am not receiving any new ones!! Please do send them in, by email or on paper to Edward Judge at 55 High Street.

27 August 2002 - We did better this month, getting the diary and calendar sorted with time to spare - a great improvement on our poor effort for the August edition.

The list of Ramsbury cum Axford parish councillors has been updated. This is to reflect the sacking this week of a number of councillors who refused to be gagged on local issues by central government regulations. For more on this, see local and national press over the coming weeks.

To ensure that we have plenty of space to publish all your photos and news items, the diary back-numbers for 1999 and 2000 have been removed. Now it's up to you! Just send contributions by e-mail or drop them through the letter box at The Old Malt Shovel, 55 High Street.

15 August 2002 - A disappointing month for us as the Diary and Calendar have had to be reconstructed manually as no information was forthcoming from the publishers, thus resulting in a delay to the monthly site update. Neither are we receiving news or photographs of village activities such as the Gardens Open Day, the Horticultural Society Summer Show, the Village Design Statement project, sports events etc.

If Group secretaries and publicity officers want to publish their news or photos, just send as an e-mail attachment to webmaster@Ramsbury.com or direct to Edward Judge. If it's more convenient to use paper, just pop your contribution through the letter box at The Old Malt Shovel, High Street. Otherwise, upkeep of the web-site may as well revert to an annual update of contact names and addresses.

Its your site and your information - so let us know what you want.

3 July 2002 - The usual offerings this month, viz. the Diary and calendar of events plus regular updates to information pages.

There is presently a vacancy for Clerk to the Ramsbury cum Axford Parish Council - so if you would like to find out more about it, contact the Chairman, Sheila Glass - details on the Councillors page.

6 June 2002 - This month, we have some photographs to show you of two recent events in Ramsbury. First, the Ramsbury Review 2002 show was held in the Memorial Hall on three days during May. A very entertaining and sometimes bawdy evening was enjoyed by sell-out audiences. The Street Fair held on June 1st this year had a Jubilee theme. Excellent weather resulted in another bumper turnout for a most enjoyable day.

If you like this new feature which we call "Recent Events in Pictures", do let us know. You can use email or simply fill out our feedback form.

The latest village diary is available as usual plus the draft Parish Council minutes for May.

23 April 2002 - This month, we are able to publish the Diary and Calendar before they appear in print!! So you know where to come for up-to-date news about Ramsbury & Axford.

The Community Bus is operated for the benefit of all in Ramsbury by a group of volunteers. They need your help. If you can spare just a small amount of your time, do please contact them or attend the AGM on 7 May - full details on The Flyer page.

6 April 2002 - The April diary and calendar are now available - also the Parish Council minutes for March.

The list of village organisations and contacts has now been revised. If you see any errors or further changes needed, please do let us know by e-mail or using our feedback form.

The first draft of the Village Design Statement is now available for review. This important document describes Ramsbury from a planning and environmental view-point and will be used as a guide in assessing future developments. It is intended to represent the views of all residents, not just the Parish Council or Amenity Group - so go along to the Memorial Hall on 13th April between 10 am and noon, or view the document in the Library, and have YOUR say.

4 March 2002 -The list of village organisations and contacts is to be revised and distributed with the village diary next month. Be sure that you have checked your entry and sent any changes to us - you can most conveniently use the feedback form.

All 2001 back numbers of the diary are now available via the Amenity Group page.

The date set for the planned reunion of those who attended Ramsbury School in the OLD school building is September 15th from 12 noon in the Memorial Hall. For more information, see the local posters or contact Graham Palmer.

A Canadian reader has identified some more people in the Vokins wedding photo. His great aunt was the bride. Many thanks to LCol D Greg Twining for this - can you help to identify any other people?

3 February 2002 - Once again this month, the diary has been produced as a normal web page with the calendar in PDF format. We intend to continue this way for the time being - unless you, the readers, tell us otherwise! Two more of the missing 2001 editions of the diary (not calendar pages) are now available via the Amenity Group page.

Preparations are well under way for a number of special events in Ramsbury to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of HM The Queen. Check the diary for details.

The Google Search facility has now been included on the Home page. Use it to search the web or to look for a specific word or phrase within Ramsbury.com

8 January 2002 - A Happy New Year to all our readers!!

This month, the Amenity Group monthly calendar pages prior to January 2000 have been removed although we have retained all available diary pages. A start has been made to add missing editions of the diary (not calendar pages) with some of the earlier 2001 editions now available via the Amenity Group page as normal web pages (not PDF format).

The January 2002 diary has been produced as a normal web page this month whilst the calendar continues to be available in PDF format. This has been necessary to overcome some production difficulties but should not be of concern to our users. If you want the diary, just click on the link. If you want the monthly calendar, you must have Acrobat Reader installed on your system - then just click on the link.

Were you a pupil at Ramsbury School when it was at the OLD school building? A group of former pupils are planning a reunion later in the year - watch the Ramsbury.com pages for further news. If you can't wait to find out more, contact Graham Palmer.
